Victor Gainor, a board member of the Xavier Society for the Blind and recipient of the 2014 Xavier Award, died March 22. He was 79.
Born and raised in Manhattan, he graduated from Sacred Heart H.S. and attended Iona College before becoming a United States Marine.
A successful career in financial services allowed time for other meaningful pursuits.
He also was a member of Post One of the Catholic War Veterans.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Pat, and his children Vic, Debby, Sue and Tim.
