Sister Claire McRudin, S.C., a Sister of Charity, Halifax, for 64 years, died at Mount St. Vincent, Wellsley Hills, Mass., March 31. She was 84.
Formerly known as Sister John Kevin, she taught first and second grades at Our Lady of Angels School, Bay Ridge, 1951-63, and first grade at Resurrection-Ascension School, Rego Park, 1963-66.
From 1966 until 1972, Sister Claire was a founding member of the Special Education Program in the Brooklyn Diocese.
She was based out of Resurrection-Ascension, where she taught special education to the primary grades.
She also ministered at the Covenant Community, Forest Hills, 1972-74, and in Massachusetts, before retiring in 2006.
A funeral Mass was held at Mount St. Vincent, Wellesley Hills, April 7. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Needham, Mass.
