Sister Charlotte Maria Shinnick, C.S.J., a Sister of St. Joseph, Brentwood, for 63 years, died Aug. 26 at Maria Regina Residence.
She entered the congregation in 1954 from St. Anthony’s parish, Greenpoint, and earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from St. Joseph’s College.
She taught at St. John the Evangelist, Park Slope, 1956-63, and St. Anne’s, Brentwood, 1963-68.
In 1968, she arrived at St. Patrick’s, Smithtown, and spent 41 years there. She retired in 2009.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Maria Regina Chapel, Brentwood, Aug. 30. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery.
