Sister Ann Kathleen Bolton, O.P., a member of the Sisters of St. Dominic Amityville, L.I. for 72 years, died Feb. 23 at the Maria Regina Residence in Brentwood. She was 91 years old.
Born in Brooklyn, Sister Ann attended St. Theresa of Avila, Crown Heights.
She first met the Dominican Sisters of Amityville at Bishop McDonnell Memorial High School, Crown Heights.
She received her habit and religious name a year before making her vows on Aug. 7, 1948.
She received a bachelor’s degree in History/Social Studies from St. John’s University in Jamaica. She later received her master’s degree in History/Social Studies from St. Bonaventure University, Allegany, New York.
Her ministry included St. Pancras, Glendale, 1948-1958; All Saints High School, Williamsburg, 1958-1960; Queen of the Rosary Academy, East Williamsburg, 1960-1967; Maria Regina Diocesan High School, Hartsdale, New York, 1967-1984; St. John the Evangelist Center, Moriches, L.I. 1984-1991, and 1992-2009; Pitt County Medical Center, Greenville, North Carolina, 1991-1992.
She retired in 2009 and moved to the convent at St. John the Baptist, West Islip. Failing health, however, necessitated a move in 2011 to Carlin Hall at the Motherhouse for care.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Albert Chapel, Queen of the Rosary Motherhouse, Amityville, Feb. 28.
