Sister Ann O’Hara, O.P., formerly Sister Mary Bernice, a member of the Sisters of St. Dominic of Amityville for 60 years, died on Aug. 5. She was 81.
A native of College Point, Sister Ann attended St. Fidelis School and St. Agnes H.S. and entered the Sisters of St. Dominic of Amityville in 1958. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from St. John’s University, Jamaica, and a master’s in science from Fordham University.
Sister Ann taught at St. Clement Pope School, South Ozone Park, and Christ the King elementary school, Springfield Gardens. She later worked in the liturgy office of the Diocese of Brooklyn and served as a guidance counselor at Dominican Commercial H.S., Jamaica.
Her funeral Mass was celebrated on Aug. 7 at Queen of the Rosary Motherhouse in Amityville, L.I. Burial followed in the sisters’ cemetery
