Sister Carol Borges, C.S.J., a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph, Brentwood, L.I., for 65 years, died on Jan. 14.
She entered the congregation from the parish of Cure of Ars, Merrick, L.I. She earned a bachelor’s degree in math from the College of Mount St. Vincent, the Bronx, and a master’s in religious education from the Immaculate Conception Seminary in Huntington.
Formerly known as Sister Mary David, she ministered at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Bedford-Stuyvesant, 1952-65 and 1967-76; St. Martha, Uniondale, L.I., 1965-67; St. Gabriel, East New York, 1976-93; and St. Leo, Corona, 1993-2013, before retiring.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Leo Church, Corona, Jan. 19. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery, Brentwood.
