Sister Mary Carmel Ruth, O.S.U. (Kathleen Ruth), 100, died March 13, at Maria Regina Residence, Brentwood.
Born in Waterford, Ireland, she entered the Congregation of the Ursuline Sisters of Tildonk in 1940, professing final vows six years later.
Her local teaching assignments included Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Ozone Park, 1943-48, and 2000- 2003; and Our Lady of Grace, Howard Beach, 1966-69, 1973-79 and 1989-2003.
In 2003, she retired to Blue Point where she continued a ministry of prayer and visiting the sick.
